Student Life
Get a Taste of Student Lifen addition to its wide range of curricula with European-standard level, the University of La Réunion boasts a quality environment for everyday life, with guaranteed economic and political stability as well as security and health safety.
Like in all universities, the various campuses are places of study but also of life, exchanges and conviviality. Student Centres (Maisons de l’Etudiant) are facilities entirely devoted to student help and can be found in the Moufia (St-Denis) and Le Tampon campuses. In addition, a Student Life Board (Bureau de la Vie Etudiante or “BE”), is the interface between students and the various University services. In particular the BVE takes care of the setting up and coordination of cultural and recreational projects aimed at making campus life more pleasant. A Student Deputy Vice-Chancellor position has been created in order to reinforce student representation in decision-making bodies.
In terms of infrastructures, students have access to more than 600 Internet-connected computers and to Wi-Fi terminals located in various parts of the campus. The University of La Réunion is one of the 10 French Universities selected for the “Digital University in the Provinces” scheme aimed at facilitating and increasing the use of Information & Communication Technologies in the University community.
Three University Libraries (BU) managed by the Documentation Service (SCD) have an exhaustive documentary collection of books and periodicals open from Mondays to Saturdays. Computer terminals can be used in the libraries to access numerous digital resources (selection of websites, databases, CD-ROM).
The Careers Centre (SCAOIP) is a must for any student looking for information on further studies or professional integration.
The medical, psychological and social staff of the Medical Service (Médecine Préventive) takes care of students’ health.
Students can take part in artistic, cultural or sporting recreational activities organized all year long by (among others) the Sports Department (SUAPS) and the Art & Culture Department (SUAC).
