Training summary
The Bachelor of Mathematics is aimed at high school graduates who have followed the mathematics specialty in first and final year.
The aim of this degree is to provide a solid general education in mathematics, as well as a foundation in computer science. In particular, it should provide access to any Master's degree in pure or applied mathematics.
The organization of the courses allows students enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in mathematics to follow a dual Bachelor's degree course in mathematics/computer science or mathematics/physics, or to follow University Diplomas (DU) in computer science or economics from the first year.
In addition, awareness units for teaching professions are offered from the second year as part of a system common to the Bachelor's degrees of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
Training objectives
The Bachelor's degree in mathematics is designed to allow students to continue their studies in a Master's degree in mathematics, in order to prepare for the external aggregation of mathematics and/or to continue with doctoral studies. At the end of the Bachelor's degree, students can also continue in a Master's degree in teaching in order to prepare for the Certificate of Aptitude for Teaching in Secondary Education (CAPES) in mathematics. In addition, the Bachelor's degree offers the possibility of joining engineering schools, actuarial schools, etc., based on their application or by competitive examination. It also allows students to take administrative competitive examinations.
Ultimately, the degree opens the door to careers in teaching and research, or in the banking, insurance and high-tech industries.
Advantages of the training
This is a general Bachelor's degree in mathematics, which allows in particular to pursue a Master's degree in “fundamental” mathematics or a Master's degree in teaching.
