Training summary

PASS is the new name given to the first year of medicine. It now replaces the First Common Year of Health Studies (PACES). The PASS offers minors to choose from:

  • Economics and Management
  • Right-footed
  • Health Sciences
  • Life sciences
  • Chemicals
  • Social Sciences

Training objectives

The training organizes access to the second year of Medicine, Midwifery, Odontology or Pharmacy, or to the first year of preparation for the state diploma of masseur-physiotherapist (MMOPK).

Advantages of the training

Although it falls within the health field, the PASS offers a broad opening onto other disciplinary fields, allowing the student to have a wide range of orientations, hence the importance of the choice of minor, depending on the student's interests.

Targeted skills

  • Ability to analyze, pose a problem and conduct reasoning
  • Capacity for abstraction, logic and modeling
  • Good mastery of classical and experimental skills expected in physics, chemistry, life and earth sciences and mathematics
  • Ability to communicate in writing and orally in a rigorous and appropriate manner
  • Ability to document, write and speak in at least one foreign language, primarily English, and desired ability to write and speak it at level B
  • Learning capacity: curiosity, ability to organize and conduct learning
  • Ability to provide a very large amount of personal work: being able to schedule it and stick to it over time.

 

Summary of lessons by course

The training is composed of:

  • at least 30 credits (ECTS) in the health field at least 10 credits in disciplinary teaching units of the student's choice and in particular allowing the continuation of studies in a national Bachelor's degree in the event that the student is not admitted to health training
  • of an English module
  • of a preparation module for the second group of selection tests to access MMOPK training
  • and a module for discovering health professions.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Admission is not authorized for students who have already completed a first year of study in health access (PASS or L.AS) or who have benefited from two years in the Common First Year of Health Studies (PACES)

Continuing Studies

  • The training organizes access to the second year of medicine, midwifery, odontology or pharmacy, or to the first year of preparation for the state diploma of masseur-physiotherapist
  • The student has the possibility of continuing his/her training in the minor associated with his/her PASS
