The University of La Réunion will host on Wednesday February 05 and Thursday February 06, 2025 the 2nd edition of the Indo-Pacific study days organized by the regional association of auditors of the Institute of Advanced National Defense Studies of the Indian Ocean (AR 27) and Emmanuelle Crane Consulting.
Researchers from six countries, diplomats, military personnel, senior civil servants, elected officials, association managers, analysts will meet around seven round tables on the following themes: intercultural, diplomacy and influence, governance and regional cooperation, crisis management and maritime security architecture, sustainable development and protection of biodiversity and oceans. Around thirty panelists will focus on responding to the theme of the study days:
"Peace and Security: Issues and Challenges of Indo-Pacific Geopolitics in the Indian Ocean. Sovereignty, Security, Biodiversity: Multi-Scalar and Cross-Cultural Perspectives of Indo-Pacific Actors on the Issues of Threat and the Strength of Regional and International Cooperation."
One of the unique features of the study days is based on the cross-views brought by high-level experts, researchers from the Indian Ocean basin and those from Australia, the United States, India, Germany, Denmark and Reunion Island who will question this “INDOPACIFIC” concept in the light of global but also territorial issues.
Raising awareness and acculturating the greatest number of stakeholders, particularly young people, to the challenges of defence and security issues within the framework of a global geopolitical vision appears to be a major challenge.
This event organized in REUNION reinforces the place of the French OVERSEAS TERRITORIES in the articulation and architecture of security supported by France, the second maritime power in the world by the surface area of the EEZ.
For 35 years, the regional association of auditors of the Institute of Advanced National Defense Studies of the Indian Ocean (AR 27) has been proud to act and contribute to the influence and promotion of the spirit of defense in the Indian Ocean alongside its partners, whom it warmly thanks.
This event will take place thanks to the support of numerous partners: the University of La Réunion, the Ministry of the Armed Forces, the French Development Agency (AFD) and Emmanuelle Crane Consulting.
As part of the new "Safe Seas Africa" (SSA) programme for maritime security in Africa, the European Union is also contributing to the financing and promotion of the Indian Ocean Commission.
The Institute of Advanced National Defense Studies (IHEDN) also provides support to the regional association of IHEDN Indian Ocean auditors by labeling the Indo-Pacific study days.
