What was planned
- Structuring content production chains by integrating digital accessibility from the start and at all stages of the process;
- Work on recruitment, job descriptions, clauses for public contracts;
- Reduce and rationalize the number of websites: technical and non-technical arbitrations;
- Create and redesign websites and the intranet;
- Implement an automatic audit tool for our site fleet;
- Award public contracts for audits;
What we have done
- We limited the number of editors for the new site and trained them in digital accessibility;
- accessibility appears in public procurement clauses for establishment projects;
- we have job descriptions clearly positioned in digital accessibility even though they do not appear in the state service job repository. We therefore proposed the creation of the following job descriptions:
- digital accessibility referent ;
- content production technician, digital accessibility specialty ;
- communication technology technician, quality control specialty, which includes advanced accessibility audit skills;
- decisions regarding the future of a number of websites have not yet been officially made, but will be made in early 2024;
- the redesign of the websites has started for the laboratories with interviews and specifications are being drafted;
- we contacted an establishment which has implemented the automatic audit tool to obtain feedback, we plan to install the tool in 2024;
- the establishment opened a DU reference in digital accessibility, a project which mobilized several departments of the university and a component and made it a presentation via webinar ;
- the web and digital accessibility service has created information sheets the first of which was sent in December. From February 2024 the sending becomes monthly;
- the university co-organized with PRITH the educational accessibility day, with a first part in person in the form of workshops (producing accessible documents, easy to read and understand, building accessibility) and a second part remotely with live subtitles and translated into French sign language, still available on YouTube:
Focus on DU RAN
The reference university diploma in digital accessibility is the first university degree course on this subject. It takes place 100% remotely, and is of course accessible to people with disabilities.
This training is supported by a fully accessible Moodle platform specially designed for this occasion. Since SPAN has prioritized the compliance of student applications, this DU will allow us to capitalize on this experience, passing it on to all our educational platforms from the next major upgrade.
Thanks to the educational set-up, bringing together the greatest specialists in the field, and with their agreement, the university will have a significant production of reusable educational resources.
Focus Accessibility sheets
As part of its awareness and training missions, the web and digital accessibility service has created sheets on the theme of digital accessibility intended to be sent by email to staff at the University of Reunion. The objective is to raise awareness, starting if possible from a situation of blockage, in access to information in relation to a situation of disability. The sheet then includes information on the theme covered, recommendations for content producers and a few links to explore the subject for the most curious. The sheet must be striking, concise and short, so that it can be available in an A5 paper version to be distributed during our events and workshops around the theme of digital accessibility. From the second form sent by email, a link will point to the archives where all past forms will be stored, in HTML format. The first sheet dealt with digital accessibility in general. The next few will talk about colors, links and images.
