“KAFKAÏEN”! The pandemic and lockdowns have caused an incredible proliferation of this term in the media. But what exactly does it mean, apart from the general and vague sense of “bizarre” or “absurd”, which its frequent confusion with “baroque”, “ubiuesque” or “surrealist” has further contributed to blurring? The challenge of this conference consists, thanks to a return to the major texts of Franz Kafka (The Trial, The Castle or The Metamorphosis), to redefine this term more rigorously and therefore to better understand the realities of the contemporary world that it claims to apprehend.
