As the island's leading research and training force, the University of Reunion Island must actively contribute to resolving the challenges surrounding tropical buildings.
In this context, we are currently developing the “LABiMAC” testing center for the characterization of construction materials.
This project, co-financed by the University of Reunion and the Action Logement group, symbolizes our commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of the island in partnership with public and private actors.
The LABiMAC is the first testing center of its kind in the DROM-COM, and is at the forefront of the wishes of these territories regarding the possibility of qualifying materials locally, what is more in a favorable legislative context (marking RUP). We are firmly convinced that the establishment of such a center within a university represents a particularity as well as a real asset. This tool will enrich Reunion research and prepare our students to meet challenges with a scientific approach, while offering a valuable partnership to local companies wishing to innovate in the field of materials.
