The ILIADE Franco-Indian campus project continues its activities
The Franco-Indian campus “ILIADE” (Innovation through plants and AI for India and France) supported by the University of Reunion in conjunction with Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and alongside six other partners French and Indian, brought together the members of its consortium during its scientific conference held in Lyon from May 28 to 30, 2024.
This event made it possible to take stock of campus activities, in particular training at the end of the 1st year of the Master Biotechnologies specialized in medicinal plants and phytotherapy launched in July 2023, to discuss the work and projects of research presented and to organize future training and research actions.
A conference structured around two key days
The first day was devoted to reviewing the educational activities with colleagues and 9 students present. 100% of students enrolled in course 1 of the Master Biotechnologies successfully completed their 1st year. The 25 graduating students are intended to continue in the 2nd year. Among the Indian participants, 3 Master's students and 1 doctoral student, present for the conference, will continue with internship mobility within the various French laboratories.
Discussions also focused on the organization of the 2nd year of this course, which will be launched in July 2024, as well as the opening of course 2 “Artificial intelligence applied to biomedical data and doctoral training. The partners then presented the research work and activities, the progress of current scientific projects and discussed opportunities for collaboration on certain common themes and the submission of joint projects. The second day focused on visiting the laboratories of Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University, namely the Laboratory of Automation, Process Engineering and Pharmaceutical Engineering (LAGEPP), the Laboratory of Biology and Evolutionary Biometrics (LBBE) and a visit to the Center for the Study of Natural Substances (CESN).
The project steering committee also met for a complete review of ILIADE's activities and to work on the remaining actions to be carried out in the second half of 2024 and the year 2025. It also participated in the BIOSANTEXC days organized by the ENS de Lyon, which brought together the teams of the 4 Franco-Indian campus projects to move forward on the structuring of the latter, identify the synergies and common activities to be deployed.
