Description of the WEU
The aim of this course is to enable students intending to teach French to foreign learners to understand the main principles linked to French pronunciation.
This course is intended for students who already have a foundation in French phonology: knowledge of vowel and consonant phonemes, principles of accentuation and organization of utterances into rhythmic groups, mastery of the API (International Phonetic Alphabet).
We propose here an in-depth study which will focus on:
- Some orthoepic principles linked to the pronunciation of French (prosody, liaison, assimilation phenomena, e caduc);
- Corrective phonetic techniques inspired by the verbo-tonal method that can be implemented in FLE teaching for allophone speakers.
