Description of the WEU
Modern volcanology is, above all, a spectacular advance in the management of volcanic crises around the world.
After an introduction on the management of two major volcanic crises in the 21st century, we will go into the world of volcanoes, their morphology and their dynamism. Taking as a guiding thread, the dynamism of volcanoes, we will approach the why of their presence, the why of their mood swings and see the impact they can have on our planet.
During the field trip, we will discover the hidden faces of the Piton de la Fournaise over its 500.000 years of history. We will see that the course of the life of the Piton de la Fournaise has not always been a long, quiet river (of lava)...
