Central councils

The Councils are made up of elected officials who can be teachers, teacher-researchers, BIATOSS and students as well as external personalities who participate, in the same way as other elected officials, in all of the missions of each council. Each council is divided into colleges and with external personalities.

The electoral colleges are distributed as follows:

The academic council brings together the members of the research commission and the training and university life commission.

The creation of the academic council in the composition fixed by law no. 2013-660 of July 22, 2013 and subsequently specified by the statutes of the establishment will only take place after the end of the mandate of the elected representatives of the board of directors.

Missions

The research commission participates in the development of research and development policy. As such,

  • it distributes the envelope of resources intended for research as allocated by the Board of Directors and subject to the strategic framework for its distribution, as defined by the Board of Directors;
  • it sets the operating rules for the establishment's research structures;
  • it adopts measures likely to enable students to develop activities for the dissemination of scientific, technical and industrial culture;
  • it is consulted on agreements with research organizations;
  • it is consulted on the criteria for choosing beneficiaries of the Doctoral Supervision and Research Bonus as well as on the related scale within which individual attributions fall;
  • she is consulted on cross-functional programs and development policies.

The research commission is notably consulted on

  •  the development of the research strategy in conjunction with those of the joint research unit partners;
  • the research component of activity reports and on the coherence of the orientation projects of the intermediate and transversal steering components and of the doctoral school committee;
  • the definition of the orientations of the scientific and technical documentation policy.

Composition

The research commission includes  34 members whose :

 26 representatives staff distributed as follows:

  • College A : 11 representatives of teachers and similar staff including:
    • 3 representatives from the law, economics and management sector;
    • 3 representatives of the literature, humanities and social sciences sector;
    • 3 representatives of the science and technology sector;
    • 2 representatives of the health sector.

  • College B : 4 representatives of personnel authorized to direct research not falling under the previous category, including:
    • 1 representative of the law, economics and management sector;
    • 1 representative from the literature, human and social sciences sector;
    • 1 representative from the science and technology sector; 
    • 1 representative from the health sector. 

  •  College C: representatives of doctors not belonging to the previous category, including
    • 2 representatives of the law, economics and management sector;
    • 2 representatives of the literature, humanities and social sciences sector;
    • 2 representatives of the science and technology sector; 
    • 1 representative of the health sector. 

  • College D: 1 representing other teaching and research staff, without sectorization.

  • College E: representatives of engineers and technicians not belonging to the previous colleges, without sectorization.

  • College F :1 representative of other personnel not belonging to the previous colleges, without sectorization.
    • 4 representatives of doctoral students registered in initial or continuing training : 1 representative per training sector. These titular representatives have an equal number of substitutes.
    • 4 external personalities designated as follows:
  • 1 representative of the Regional Council of La Réunion designated by the community;
  • 1 representative of research organizations present in Reunion, designated collectively by these organizations;
  • 1 representative of the economic world linked to research, appointed by the research commission;
  • 1 qualified personality designated in a personal capacity by the Research Commission.
