Why vote?
Every 4 years, university staff are called to vote to designate their representatives to the central councils: Board of Directors (CA), Research Commission (CR) and Training and University Life Commission (CFVU) of the Academic Council (CAc).
In our University, the elections will take place on:
Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 09:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. (Reunion time) without interruption
What are the councils/bodies for?
| The Board of Directors (BoD) | It determines the general policy of the university, votes on the budget, distributes all resources and means and deliberates on the content of the establishment contract. |
| The Academic Council (CAc) | It brings together members of the research committee and the training and university life committee. |
| The Research Commission (RC) | It distributes the envelope of resources intended for research, also allocated by the CA. It sets the operating rules for laboratories and research federations and adopts measures allowing students to develop activities for the dissemination of scientific, technical and industrial culture. |
| The Commission for Training and University Life (CFVU) | It discusses and adopts the rules relating to examinations and knowledge assessment, the rules for evaluating teaching, and the measures supporting the success of the greatest number of students and those aimed at promoting and developing interactions between science and society. It distributes the budget for training as allocated by the CA. This committee also addresses issues relating to student life, student engagement and campus life. |
These bodies, which include elected representatives of the university's staff and student users as well as external figures, ensure the democratic management of the university and play, with the presidential team, an essential role in its governance.
cf. Article L712-1 of the Education Code :
"The president of the university, through his decisions, the board of directors through its deliberations and the academic council, through its deliberations and opinions, ensure the administration of the university."
