The Bachelor's degree in Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilizations (LLCER), Spanish track allows one to acquire a solid disciplinary training in the language, literature, and civilization of the Hispanic world, as well as interdisciplinary skills (information research, writing, analysis, preparation of files and projects) within a training program equipped with a important international dimensionThere are many opportunities for international mobility.

Educational objectives and training opportunities

Educational goals : 

The educational objectives of the training are to:

  • to strengthen disciplinary knowledge related to the Hispanic field: Spanish language, civilization, literature, art and culture, written and oral expression in French and in a foreign language.
  • to strengthen students' autonomy in research and information acquisition, in analytical and writing skills, in communication, and in structuring files and projects.
  • to offer an immersion in a professional environment (mandatory internship in the third year of the Bachelor's degree)

It is worth noting that the Teaching Units (TUs) complement each other coherently: the Civilization TUs provide a framework that allows for a better understanding of cultural productions (text or image) and an grasp of their implications. Conversely, the Literature TUs employ analytical techniques that can be applied to other media.

La LLCER degree, Spanish track This project is in line with the educational guidelines and thematic priorities of the institution. It falls within the field of "Cultures, territories and plural societies in the Indian Ocean", which is supported at the University level and within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

This program offers traditional instruction in translation, oral and written language practice, phonetics, grammar development, civilization, literature, and disciplinary methodology. It is the only program at the local and regional level to adopt a linguistic, metalinguistic, cultural, and literary approach to Spanish-speaking societies.

The LLCER Spanish track is characterized by a solid disciplinary training in the language, literature, and civilization of the Hispanic world, while implementing interdisciplinary skills, and an important international dimensionStudents are strongly encouraged to participate in exchange programs for one or more semesters, and numerous agreements have been signed to this effect. Internships, mandatory in the third year (L3) and optional in the second year (L2), allow students to confirm or explore their career goals. The LLCER Bachelor's program also welcomes international students and instructors from partner universities.

job market opportunities are numerous, mainly in the field of education (Spanish teaching certificates) but also in the fields of training, culture, heritage, and communication.

Advantages of the training

The strengths of the training are:

  • A solid disciplinary background
  • An international dimension: numerous opportunities for study abroad. Students have the possibility of spending a semester or a year on the Erasmus program at many partner universities (notably in Madrid, Seville, Cáceres, Alicante, Valencia, Santiago de Compostela, or Cádiz). ECTS credits earned abroad are validated within the LLCER degree. A gap year in the form of paid professional experience abroad is also possible within the program, such as a year-long teaching assistantship in Spain or Latin America.
  • A very rich interdisciplinary program (literature, civilization, art, oral expression, written expression, digital skills) where the different modules are designed to complement each other.

In the second year of undergraduate studies (L2): Spanish grammar and linguistics; 2th-century Latin American literature; history and civilization of Spain; Spanish literatures of the Golden Age…

In the third year of a Bachelor's degree (L3): applied linguistics (language facts; visual cultures (image analysis); translation from and into Spanish; Spanish and Latin American history and civilization; oral expression)

A mandatory 70-hour internship in the third year of the Bachelor's degree.

Depending on the student's situation, applications to enter the first year of Bachelor's degree (L1) take place according to two specific procedures (the national platform Parcoursup, Études en France).
