The MEEF Master in Modern Literature course aims to prepare students for the recruitment competition for the Certificate of Aptitude for Second Degree Teaching (CAPES) in modern literature and to enable them to develop the skills necessary for teaching French. in middle and high school.
Training aims
This course is aimed at students wishing to train as French teachers.
It allows them to follow a set of diversified courses enabling them to acquire and develop professional skills, to prepare for external civil service recruitment competitions Certificate of Aptitude for Second Degree Professorship (CAPES) in modern literature and to learn about and through research in the field of French training.

The training is based on an integrative logic linking courses and teaching content. Disciplinary and didactic learning are combined so that students can move from distanced reflection to professional practice.
The literature course offers, like all MEEF courses, a common core allowing students to access a shared culture, specific to the professions of teaching, education and training in the Reunion context.

It also includes internships which promote the gradual discovery of the different dimensions of the profession and the skills necessary to practice it. Generally speaking, it engages the work and reflection of students on professional practices, on the sociolinguistic and cultural context, everything that allows students to engage in learning.
The training is organized in three blocks:
- Deepen their disciplinary knowledge (literature, culture, grammar)
- Develop their didactic thinking in relation to the contributions of research and the main areas of skills in teaching French (reading, saying, writing, studying the language)
- Analyze professional practice
- Acquire a professional culture.
It also includes internships which promote the gradual discovery of the different dimensions of the profession and the skills necessary to practice it. Generally speaking, it engages the work and reflection of students on professional practices, on the sociolinguistic and cultural context, everything that allows students to engage in learning.

- Framework and context: the teacher, actor in the educational community and the public service of National Education
- Knowledge and learning: a versatile teacher, effective in the transmission of fundamental knowledge and the construction of learning
- Reflective and professional practice: the teacher, reflective practitioner, actor of his/her professional development
Intership
Mass observation and supported practice courses are organized from the first year in partnership with the inspection body, in high school and college, in the classes of a designated training supervisor.
In the second year, the student completes a long internship, of at least 324 hours between September and February, accompanied by a tutor in the field and a tutor from the National Higher Institute of Professorship and Education (INSPE). He/She benefits from internship monitoring and reflective analyzes of practices as part of his/her training.
Based on a professional question identified during the internship, the student undertakes a research process to write a dissertation with a professional aim, accompanied by a dissertation director. This dissertation is defended before a jury at the end of the training.
