Erasmu + and European Union logos

Students enrolled in a European partner university that has signed an Erasmus+ agreement with our university, and whose field of study falls within this agreement, can apply for mobility at the University of Reunion Island.

Recommendations and conditions to facilitate your integration:

  • To be able to follow the courses and take the exams in the language of instruction of the chosen courses.
  • Possess at least a B1 level in French

Step 1: Nomination by the home university

All Students entering exchange programs must be nominated online by their home university.. Only nominations submitted via the online form (Google Form) provided at the start of each campaign will be considered.

A student may be nominated for:

  • Le 1 semester August -> December
  • Le 2 semester January -> June
  • A full academic year August -> June

Nominations made directly by students will be automatically deleted. Only partner universities are authorized to nominate students.


Step 2: Online application

After nomination, students receive an application link sent from the following address: incoming@univ-reunion.fr

Documents to be submitted with the online application :

  • Transcripts from previous semesters
  • Learning Agreement signed by the student and the home university
  • Copy of identity card or passport

Submission deadline: 2 weeks

Information about the Learning Agreement (LA) :

  • It lists the courses you plan to take during your mobility period.
  • The majority of the selected courses must come from the main program of study in which you have been appointed.
  • You need to check the number of ECTS credits required by your home university
  • If you LA is not submitted correctly before the deadline, Your application will be cancelled.

Submission deadline: 2 weeks


Step 3: Official acceptance and letter of admission

After receiving your application, it will be reviewed. If your application is complete, it will be forwarded to the International Relations Relay of the faculty concerned by your mobility.

Once validated, you will receive:

  • Your letter of acceptance
  • Your Learning Agreement signed by the University of Reunion Island

In case of cancellation, you must inform us at the following address: incoming@univ-reunion.fr

Before your arrival

To study at the University of Reunion Island you must have:

  • First ID card or passport
  • First Health Insurance covering the entire duration of your exchange

Administrative Registration :

You must confirm your exchange semester or year by completing your administrative registration for the upcoming semester or year.

  • Administrative registration is done online and is mandatory for all incoming exchange students.
  • You will receive instructions by email approximately two months before the start of the semester.
  • Once your registration is validated, you will receive your student number and will be able to collect your card upon arrival.

Housing :

After your admission, you will be able to apply for accommodation either in a university residence or in the private sector:

university accommodation These residences are managed by the CROUS La Réunion – Mayotte. You can apply to one of the following residences:

  • International City on the Moufia campus (city of Saint Denis) North
  • Lemuria Residence on the Terre-Sainte campus (Saint Pierre city) South
  • International Student Residence on the Tampon campus (Tampon city) South

Instructions for applying for accommodation will be sent by email, along with instructions for registering for the semester.

Please note: submitting an application does not guarantee the allocation of university accommodation. If no university accommodation is available, you can turn to private accommodations.

Un A meet and greet service is provided upon your arrival at Reunion Island airport. : a transporter will be waiting for you on site to accompany you and drive you to your accommodation, whether it is in a university residence or in private accommodation.

Furthermore, you will receive a form in advance entitled "Arrival announcement" which will allow you to indicate your arrival date and time to facilitate your check-in.

2- For to facilitate your procedures and integration, many accompaniments are provided :

  • Civic service volunteers and international ambassadors, They will accompany you and help you with your initial administrative procedures.
  • An integration campus is organised upon your arrival in semesters 1 and 2. All the information useful for the smooth running of your mobility is presented there.

Your home university requires a certificate of arrival; please submit your request to the following address: incoming@uiv-reunion.fr .

During their mobility period, students receive their login credentials by email. These credentials give them access to their:

  • Timetable
  • Student account
  • University email address

To request a modification to the study contract:

Any request to adjust the Learning Agreement (for example, modifying certain courses in case of overlapping schedules or program changes) must be made within 2 weeks of the start of the semester. A reminder of the deadline will be sent. After this date, no course cancellations or additions will be accepted.

Change requests must be made on the document “During the Mobility - exceptional changes” or on the model provided by the home university.

Below are the steps to submit an application:

  • 1- Check the timetable (especially any overlaps and the language of instruction).
  • 2- Complete the document "During the Mobility - exceptional changes" once the course choices have been definitively finalized.
  • 3- Sign the document
  • 4- Submit the amended contract to the home university for approval
  • 5- Once the document has been signed by all parties, send the final version to the following address: incoming@univ-reunion.fr

At the end of your mobility period, you must send your certificate or proof of departure, along with your boarding pass or plane ticket, to the following address: incoming@univ-reunion.fr This will allow you to finalize the administrative aspects of your stay at our university.

Please note: if your certificate indicates both arrival and departure, please send us the same certificate showing your arrival confirmation.

Transcript of grades:

Once all the grades have been entered by the teaching team, you will receive your grade report by email.

Conditions for an ISEP exchange

  • You are a student at an American university, a member of the ISEP network
  • You pay the registration fees to your home university, not to the University of Reunion Island.

Duration of study stay

A student can come to study for 1 or 2 semesters:

  • full academic year August -> June

Application files

Application files are forwarded to the ISEP coordinator at the University of Reunion Island by ISEP Washington. Acceptance of the application is then decided by the ISEP coordinator.

You will then receive a letter of acceptance from the University of Reunion Island, which will allow you to begin your visa application process.

Formalities to complete upon your arrival at the University of Reunion Island

  • You must go to the International Relations Department (SRICR) to complete your administrative and educational registration. You do not have to pay any registration fees.
  • You must have your entry into French territory validated by the OFII, the documents must be submitted to the DRI (the long-stay visa form duly completed by the American authorities, copy of the passport and visa, a photo of identity, proof of address in Reunion) which will transmit to the Prefecture/OFII. 
  • Modifications to educational contracts (learning agreement)must be discussed with the ISEP coordinator from the University of Reunion.
  • After your exams at the University of La Réunion, a transcript is drawn up and sent to ISEP Washington, which forwards it to your home university, which is responsible for validating your study stay in La Réunion.
  • You can complete the online questionnairein order to give your opinion on the ISEP mobility carried out at the University of La Réunion and return it by email (incoming@univ-reunion.fr)

Conditions

You are a student at Meiji University

  • You must be selected by your university. It is the international relations department of your university that sends us the list of nominated students.
  • You pay tuition fees to your home university and not to the University of Reunion Island.
  • The bilateral agreement authorizes a maximum of two (2) students, graduates or not, each year.

 Two exchange students for one semester are counted as one exchange student for one year.


Duration of study stay

Students can come to study for 1 or 2 semesters (the academic year runs from August to July):

  • First half of the year (autumn): mid-August to mid-December
  • second half (winter): mid-January to the end of June

To draw up your educational contract, commonly known as a “study contract”, please fill it in correctly using the course models offered by the University of La Réunion.


Accomodation

We can provide you with accommodation in a student residence. To do so, you must complete the following documents, which you will need to attach to your online application:


Welcome

1. If you arrive between Monday and Friday, the DRI will be able to pick you up from the airport. As soon as you know your arrival date, please complete and submit the form 'Arrival Announcement' to help us organize your welcome at the airport. This should be done before:

  •  july 1st if you're arriving for the first semester (starts in August)
  •  Dec 1st if you're arriving for the second semester (starts in January)

2. A welcome day is organized every year for international students to introduce them to the campus and the university services.


Formalities do be completed on your arrival in Reunion Island

  • You must have your entry into France validated by the OFII and must obtain a residence permit. You can do this as soon as you arrive via this link.
  •  You will have to register as a teacher. The DRI will assist you in this process. Changes to the teaching contract must be approved by your home university.

End of your mobility

After your exams at the University of La Réunion, a transcript of marks is drawn up and sent to your home university, which is responsible for validating your study stay in Réunion.

The Regional Exchange University Indian Ocean Volet II (REUNION II) program is an ambitious program of the University of Reunion which aims to strengthen inter-university partnerships in the Indian Ocean region.

This large-scale structured mobility program for students and staff of Indian Ocean universities is co-financed by the European Union as part of the INTERREG VI-Indian Ocean 2021-2027 cooperation program.

It allows students partner establishments listed below to benefit from funding for their mobility for a period of ten months to complete a year of Bachelor's 2, Bachelor's 3, Master's 1 or 2 at the University of Reunion.

The files of students eligible for this scholarship will be studied after the admission campaign at the University of Reunion.

The selection will be made by the International Relations Committee, according to the following criteria: academic excellence, motivation, suitability of course/project, level of diploma.

Financial aid for mobility

The selected student can benefit from the following financial aid:

  • Support for visa fees up to 60 Euros (with proof of invoice)
  • Installation bonus from 800 Euros
  • Monthly compensation of €700 for a maximum of 10 months
  • Flat rate coverage of air transport costs (amount varies depending on the country)

Le Virtual mobility consortium eMobi@Dg2 It brings together member universities of the Network of Excellence for University Leaders in Governance and Management, the DG2 network. Its objective is to promote virtual student mobility by allowing regular students to take distance courses offered by a host university, while obtaining their degree from their home university.

The overall objective of this elective course is to provide students with basic knowledge about contemporary China and to cultivate their critical and intercultural thinking. Through various aspects of modern Chinese society presented in this course, students are encouraged to make comparisons and reflect on their own culture and society.

  • Chinese literature: from classics to science fiction

The general objective of this UEO is to give students as wide a range as possible of the history of Chinese literature, from the classical era to the contemporary era. In the first part, “ancient and classic literatures” aim to provide keys to understanding Chinese thought through literature. By retracing the history of “modern and contemporary literature”, the second part will lay the foundations for women's literature, political literature and the evolution of science fiction literature in China.

Each year, the University of Reunion Island welcomes international students from all over the world. To support their arrival and encourage their integration, the International Relations Office offers a range of welcome services, including a dedicated integration campus. Throughout the year, team-building outings and group activities are also organized to foster connections, exchanges, and the development of relationships within the student community.

Among the highlights is the official orientation day held at the beginning of each semester. This warm and friendly event provides an opportunity to welcome new international students and introduce them to the services available to them throughout their stay.
