Properly preparing your mobility involves knowing the expenses related to it.

Here is a list of expenses to expect:

• Be able to demonstrate to the Japanese authorities that you can meet monthly living expenses for the duration of your stay

• Registration fees at the University of Reunion (I do not pay registration fees at the host university)
• Air transport to the host country (round trip)

• For students who wish to be assigned to the Meiji student dormitory, the full rent must be paid before arrival in Japan

Step 1 : Present your project to the educational manager of the student's course during their mobility period*. At the same time, prepare your application file by including the following documents:

• A photo
• A copy of the student card or school certificate for the current year
• A cover letter
• A letter of recommendation from a teacher at your level of education
• A copy of the passport
• A pre-study contract (educational contract)
• A TOEFL iBT certification (minimum score 61) – You can inquire with the MDL.

*Example: you are in your second year of Law in 2025-2026 and you would like to go on an exchange during your third year of Law, i.e. in 2026-2027. You should therefore contact the third year academic manager.

Step 2: Go to Student portal Complete the form entitled "Outgoing Studies Form"

Step 3 Download the completed form and send it by email to your educational manager of the year of your mobility for signature. Then submit your complete application including your TOEFL certification, your pre-study contract, and all the documents mentioned in step 1 to outgoing@univ-reunion.fr before February 1, 2027

Selection by the University of Reunion

Step 4 : A pre-selection committee, composed of the program manager, international relations representatives from the relevant components and the relevant educational managers, will decide on the applications.

The commission will be held on 08th February 2027, the results will be communicated to the students from the 10th February 2027 by email, via the International Relations Department (DRI).

Procedure for validating and signing the study contract

Step 5: If your application is pre-selected, the study contract is prepared by the program advisor in consultation with:

• the educational manager of the student's course during their mobility period
• the international relations relay (RI Relay) of the component concerned

The contract can only be established after agreement from these three parties.

Transmission of the contract

Step 6: Once the contract is drawn up, the student sends it to the International Relations Department (DRI), copying the program contact person at the University of Reunion Island. Mrs. Anne-Françoise Zattara)

Step 7 Your application has been shortlisted by the University of Reunion Island but still needs to be accepted by the partner university. The International Relations Office (DRI) is forwarding your application to Meiji University, which is responsible for coordinating students applying to the program.

This includes Meiji University registration link , the acceptance letter as well as the documents for the VISA application.

Wait to receive an email from the partner university telling you what steps to follow.

A mobility project is also being prepared on the financial level.

Complete an administrative registration and an educational registration

Please note: Any course changes must have the prior agreement of the training pedagogical manager.

At the end of the exams, the transcript of grades must be sent to the International Relations Department at the University of Reunion Island.
