Description of the WEU
In this UEO, we will address the structure of the atmosphere, that is to say the physicochemical description of the different layers of the atmosphere from the troposphere to the exosphere via the ozone layer. We will also study the dynamics of the atmosphere, which makes it possible to explain small-scale phenomena such as breezes, but also larger-scale phenomena such as trade winds and cyclones which are at the origin of the different types of climates on land: equatorial, tropical, temperate, polar climate, etc.
We will see how a thermodynamic approach allows, among other things, to understand the formation of clouds and their evolution.
Finally, the optical properties of the atmosphere will be studied, which allows us both to understand natural optical phenomena (such as the color of the sky and the rainbow) but also to develop observation tools for forecasting and research. .
