Description of the WEU
Biodiversity: the term, which appeared under the pen of a few researchers in the mid-eighties, has since had a brilliant media career. Today, everyone is talking about biodiversity, particularly on our island known for its National Park and its UNESCO World Heritage listing. The concept seems simple but is nonetheless poorly understood by the general public. It is true that the field of research it covers is vast. Thus, even if France is the leading country in Europe in terms of biological diversity, did you know that the largest number of endangered species is found in our country? How is biodiversity impacted and taken care of by human activity? What are the consequences of the disappearance of biodiversity? Why could its protection save humanity?
This EU will allow you to discover biodiversity, its importance in our daily lives, and the human strategies put in place to preserve it. You will also discover the major issues that weigh on biodiversity, and which concern us all: erosion of biodiversity, climate change, etc.
