Quebec Student Exchange Program – BCI

Quebec universities, as part of the BCI Quebec Student Exchange Program, have established student exchange programs with university establishments outside Canada.
The agreement concluded between the BCI and the University of Reunion makes it possible to organize student exchanges between Quebec higher education establishments and our establishment.
How to apply?
You will find in our BCI PQEE Candidate Guide :
- information on the procedure to follow to participate in BCI exchanges
- the application schedule to respect information on the Quebec study system
- information on the administrative procedures to be carried out if you are admitted to a Quebec university to obtain your visa (CAQ and Study Permit)
- practical information on the budget to plan, on the financial aid for mobility to which you are eligible
What are the conditions for participating?
For the student, it is necessary:
- to be registered at the University of La Réunion and to have completed at least one year of university studies.
- have a good university record and commit to taking courses worth 30 French credits (ECTS) for one semester and 60 ECTS for one year.
Attention ! Priority is given to students in the 3rd year of a bachelor's degree and 1st year of a master's degree.
Create your file
The PQEE (Quebec Student Exchange Program) participation file must contain:
- Le electronic form application for participation in the BCI exchange program signed. (Remember to use the access code provided by the DRI to access the form)
- a copy of birth certificate with filiation
- an identity document (passport)
- a copy of the official transcript for each year of university studies completed or in progress
- a cover letter describing the objectives pursued by participating in the exchange program, on an academic, professional and personal level.
- a letter of recommendation from one of your teachers
- the list of courses taken during the current year (including courses in the first and second semester)
- le study contract duly completed and signed by everyone, mentioning the courses you plan to take at the host university of your choice. This contract must be completed with the educational manager of the mobility year in order to find the best possible course equivalence.
PLEASE NOTE, you must establish a list of courses for each of the chosen establishments (3 maximum).
These course lists must be signed by the Educational Manager, the International Relations Relay of your UFR/Institute, and the BCI Coordinator.
Furthermore, we advise you to find out about the special conditions put in place by partner universities regarding certain study programs.
The selection committee reserves the right to distribute the applications if necessary, depending on the number of places allocated by the host partner universities.
Financial help
Mobility aids
The 2024-2025 mobility aid files are available on the online portal, here.
Reunion Region Stock Exchange : The student must send to the DRI a arrival certificate completed by the host university. It is necessary to make the first payments of aid linked to your mobility.
At the end of your stay, return to the DRI: lend of stay certificate. It is necessary to pay you the balances of aid linked to your mobility, the report on your mobility and the original transcripts.
International mobility assistance grant from the Ministry of National Education:
Scholarship students based on social criteria can benefit from additional aid of €400/month over a period of minimum 2 to maximum 9 months.
Please note that this scholarship is not awarded automatically.
Once there
The student must complete administrative registration and educational registration. Registration fees are paid to the University of La Réunion, they are not due.
Concerning your educational contract, you must contact the professor at the University of Reunion who helped you establish your study contract before leaving so that he can validate the modification(s) that you propose.
WARNINGS: any modification must obtain prior agreement and signature in order to validate the stay and the diploma upon return to Reunion. Click here to download the form.
Writing a mobility report
Students receiving aid from the Region must provide a mobility report of at least 5 pages in 2 copies.
Proposal for the format of the mobility report:
- Reception at the airport (pick-up, guardians, alone, etc.)
- University life (welcome day, teaching, etc.)
- accommodation (private or campus, research, payment, etc.)
- Transport, travel
- Healthcare
- Daily life (budget, etc.)
- Advice for future candidates, positive and negative points
You must send the original transcripts to the DRI. The educational manager will carry out the conversion of the grades.
