Since 2015, the Erasmus+ program has been open outside Europe as part of Action 1 "Higher education mobility supported by external policy funds".
International Credit Mobility projects (KA-171) involve carrying out mobility between Erasmus+ Programme countries and Erasmus+ partner countries (outside Europe).

“I am RATSIMBAZAFY Mitia Kanto Elisa, a Malagasy student currently enrolled in the first year of a Master's degree in Applied Economics at the University of Reunion Island, thanks to the ERASMUS+ mobility program. It is an experience that enriches my worldview day after day. Beyond the academic dimension, it is an immersion in a truly stimulating intellectual environment, fascinating because of the diversity of ideas and approaches that interact within it.”
Currently pursuing a Master's degree, I would benefit from this mobility.
This experience allowed me to approach my field of study in a new way. Through practical applications and concrete case studies, economics appeared to me from a deeper and clearer perspective. This enabled me to strengthen my understanding, or at least to grasp differently, the importance of economic studies and analyses that I have been exploring since my first year of undergraduate studies.
However, the human aspect remains the most striking. Having been housed in the Cité Internationale on the university campus itself, I met people with diverse backgrounds, some from the same country as me, but all sharing different perspectives. These encounters, though brief compared to the vast horizons I was able to admire in Reunion Island, enriched my thinking and shaped my perception.
My gratitude is absolute for this opportunity which, beyond its aspect of simple academic support, represents a true springboard towards an essential intellectual and human awakening, which I hope more young people will be able to experience. RATSIMBAZAFY Mitia Kanto Elisa 2025

« As part of the Erasmus+/MIC program, we had the privilege of undertaking a teaching exchange at the Catholic University of Madagascar (UCM) to teach an Environmental Economics course to first-year Master's students in Economics. The exchanges were incredibly enriching and a wonderful experience, involving diverse student profiles and new collaborations with colleagues at UCM. Mobility and exchanges in Ethiopia:
« This mobility provided an opportunity to conduct teaching activities while fostering scientific exchanges around shared environmental challenges. It allowed for the dissemination of knowledge and the initiation of enriching discussions with academic partners.
These exchanges also revealed avenues for collaboration, particularly regarding a potential comparative study of ecosystem services between Ethiopia and Réunion.

« As part of my Erasmus+ exchange at the University of La Réunion, I conducted research for my doctoral dissertation in collaboration with my advisor. This experience allowed me to develop an analytical model, analyze DHS-type data, and strengthen my research analysis skills.
Beyond the academic aspect, this exchange was an enriching cultural immersion, allowing me to improve my French and discover new working methods.
It also helped initiate and strengthen collaboration between my home university, Bahir Dar University, and the University of Réunion, with concrete prospects such as the creation of an entrepreneurship training and incubation center in my city. »
