MEIJI (Japan)

Meiji University and the University of La Réunion have concluded an agreement to organize student exchanges. Each establishment can send and accept a maximum of two undergraduate or graduate students per year. Two one-semester exchange students are counted for one year of exchange.
Prerequisites
- Be enrolled in Law at the University of Reunion,
- Be at least in the 3rd year of a Bachelor's degree during the mobility year,
- Have pre-approval from your teachers,
- To be motivated,
- Have a good academic record and demonstrate a good level of English because the training offered is only in English,
- Have a minimum TOEFL IBT score of 61 (some departments require a higher score, up to 80)
Applicants are required to take the test BEFORE applying. A copy of the official note MUST be prepared for uploading to the online application.
Students do not need to be proficient in the Japanese language during their time at Meiji.
On the other hand, as the courses are taught in English, it is essential to have a good knowledge and mastery of it.
Bachelor level
Japanese School of Global Studies
This program includes a curriculum focused on contemporary Japanese studies. It contains three areas of concentration: Culture and art, Business and society, and Globalization. This program also emphasizes the teaching of Japanese. A variety of Japanese language courses, from absolute beginner to advanced level, are offered. All of these credits count toward graduation.
School of political and economic sciences
Different social phenomena are becoming more and more complex, among which “politics” and “economics” are two major inseparable elements that serve as the basis for human life and activity. The School strives to develop a comprehensive and close understanding of the relationship between politics and economics, and the phenomena arising therefrom, in order to develop students into competent people worthy of international respect.
You can spend a semester or a year at Meiji University, you remain registered at the University of Réunion where you pay your registration fees.
You must establish a study contract before your departure with the educational manager of year N+1 of your component.
How to apply?
Application procedure
The student pre-applies online on the portal. The pre-application form must be endorsed by the component's IR relay and must be accompanied by the documents that make up the application file.
- The student sends the application file and supporting documents to the DRI by email
- The application files go to the selection committee.
- The DRI informs students of the commission's decision
- Communication to Meiji of students selected by the commission
- Online registration on the Meiji website
- Meiji will send acceptance letters to students
Constitution of the file
You must provide with the duly completed and signed Pre-Application Form:
- A photo
- a copy of the student card or school certificate for the current year
- a cover letter
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher. your level of training
- a copy of the passport
- finally the provisional list of courses (study contract)

Expenses
Properly preparing your mobility involves knowing the expenses related to it.
Here is a list of expenses to expect:
- Registration fees at the University of La Réunion (I do not pay for registration at the host university),
- Transport to the host country (round trip),
- Insurance and visa fees,
- The student must prove that he is able to cover daily expenses (accommodation and living on site),
- To be assigned to the Meiji Student Dormitory, full rent must be paid before arrival in Japan.
The student can benefit from financial aid from several partners. In addition, this aid is cumulative.
If you are a student Crous scholarship holder, you will continue to receive your grant during your mobility.
Reunion Region Stock Exchange
Eligible students will be required to complete a Reunion Region Stock Exchange file. The first payment of this aid is conditional on sending the DRI the arrival certificate completed by the host university. The balance of the scholarship will be paid upon receipt of the end of stay certificate.
International Mobility Assistance Grant (AMI) from the Ministry of National Education and Higher Education
Scholarship students can benefit from additional aid of €400 per month over a period of 2 months minimum to 9 months maximum – FRI Form.

Once there
You must complete an administrative registration and an educational registration
All course modifications must obtain the prior agreement of the educational manager.
At the end of your exams, you must send the transcript to the DRI
