Presentation of the Erasmus+ program

Created in 1987, this European higher education program owes its name to Desiderius Erasmus Rotterdamus, known as Erasmus of Rotterdam (1465-1536), a Dutch humanist, philosopher and theologian who campaigned for peace in Europe.

The European Erasmus Programme (Community Action Programme in the field of Education) includes two mobility components for higher education: study stay at university and internship in Europe, the latter not being discussed here.

Created in 1987, Erasmus+ is the first European cooperation programme in higher education.
The Erasmus+ study trip : more than 1000 students from our University have already benefited from this system.

Special cases

The Erasmus+ programme pays particular attention to reception, guidance and educational and technical support and, above all, to the additional costs associated with the mobility of individuals with disabilities. The aim is to ensure that every individual benefits fully from their European mobility experience.

Each higher education establishment, by signing the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), is committed to ensuring equal access and mobility opportunities for participants from all backgrounds. Consequently, individuals with disabilities can benefit from the support services that the host institution offers to its students and staff. Here for information is the notes.

Decree 2016-1483 of November 2, 2016 reinstated the authorization to leave the territory for minors as of January 15, 2017 (article 371-6 of the civil code)This measure may impact your “Erasmus+” mobility projects.

You will find attached the DGESCO information point which summarizes the decree of December 13, 2016, setting out the terms of application.

This formality is essential for outings, studies or internships outside the national territory. Establishments are responsible for collecting outing authorizations signed by the two legal guardians of the participating students. All minors residing in France regardless of their nationality are concerned

It will also be necessary to verify that minors have a copy of the identity document of their signing legal guardians when crossing the border.

Advice to travelers

Finally, it is strongly recommended to consult the “travel advice” section of the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to find out the practical details of entry and security for the different countries and to register your student trips at the foreigner on the “Ariane” site to allow you to have real-time advice and recommendations on your trip.

These provisions have been developed to reinforce the level of security of the mobility of minors as part of their schooling and the education projects that you have built.

Once there

The student must first complete an administrative registration and an educational registration : registration fees are not due because they were paid to the University of La Réunion. A photocopying and public transport package can be requested, but these amounts remain low.

Modification of the on-site educational contract: for various reasons, the study contract may give rise to timetable incompatibilities, course cancellations or courses limited by a pre-established number of places.

In this case, you must contact the professor at the University of Reunion who helped you establish your study contract before leaving so that he can validate the modification(s) that you propose.

Please note: any modification must obtain prior agreement and signature otherwise the stay may not be validated upon return to Reunion to obtain the diploma.

Don't forget to download the study contract modification form to send to the International Relations and Regional Cooperation Department (SRICR) who will forward it to the educational manager.

Once there, the student will have documents to send to the International Relations and Regional Cooperation Department (SRICR):

  • A copy of the study contract approved by the host university or the proposed amendments to the study contract in agreement with the host university,
  • A certificate of arrival at the establishment, necessary to make the first payments of aid linked to your Erasmus+ mobility.

At the end of the stay

At the end of the stay, documents must be sent to the International Relations and Regional Cooperation Department (SRICR) :

  • Erasmus+ end of stay certificate, required to pay you the balance of the aid linked to your Erasmus mobility
  • Detailed Erasmus+ mobility report required by the Europe Education Formation France Agency
  • Submission of original transcripts. Your results and/or diploma will only be validated by the examination board in Reunion Island if these documents have been provided within the required timeframe.
