A Diploma of Higher Studies in Notariat (DESN)
The University of La Réunion is the only overseas university to offer the diploma of higher studies in notarial science (DESN) from the start of the 2024 academic year.

This new diploma, created in 2022 as part of the reform of access to the profession of notary, replaces the old separate access routes to the profession (the university route and the professional route), by merging these two course. The creation of this unique diploma is the result of strong collaboration between the Superior Council of Notaries (CSN), the National Institute of Notarial Training (INFN) and universities and now constitutes the main route to access the profession of notary.
3 agreements signed
This Thursday, June 20 on the Moufia campus, three agreements were signed between the University of Reunion and the INFN:

- a national convention for the organization of the Master's degree in “Notarial Law” and the Diploma of Higher Studies in Notaries, in accordance with Decree No. 73609 of July 5, 1973 amended by Decree No. 2022-1998 of October 7, 2022 and with the decree of July 5, 2023 relating to the notarial higher studies diploma
- a complementary agreement relating, on the one hand, to the legal access of students holding the notarial law course of the Master of Property Law and students holding the master's degree in notarial law from the University of La Réunion to the Diploma of Higher Studies in Notariat issued by the UR and attached to the INFN site in Paris and, on the other hand, to the DESN organization;
- a complementary agreement, relating to the colleges of directors of the Diplômes d'Etudes Supérieures de Notariat attached to the INFN site in Paris.
The installation of the DESN at the University of Reunion (UR) is the result of a long and fruitful collaboration between the establishment, the INFN, the INFN Paris site and the establishment and is accompanied by the creation of a Master's degree in notarial law, open to 25 students. Holders of this diploma will be able to register automatically with the DESN. For the record, since 2008 the university has already offered a master's degree in Heritage Law with a notarial course. She has trained more than 300 students, fully playing her role as a social elevator.
The University of Reunion will thus be able, – thanks to these new diplomas which are flagships of its training offer, to continue to attract the best students from the territory but also from the entire national territory for the purpose of training future notaries of Reunion and France.
