Presentation, objective(s):

With the ambition to intensify the collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the University of Reunion Island, the main objective of the BECOME project is to contribute to the energy transition in Reunion Island towards a 100% renewable electricity mix by examining the potential benefits of the complementarity of solar and wind resources, as well as their hybridization for future energy systems.
To successfully complete the BECOME project, 4 specific objectives are targeted:

  • To simultaneously investigate the complementarity of solar and wind resources in space and time.
  • Develop a comprehensive, consistent, and high-resolution database for the assessment of solar and wind resources.
  • Quantitatively assess the temporal complementarity of solar and wind energy resources.
  • Analyze the spatial complementarity between different types of energy.
