After more than a year of alert on the financial situation of the establishment, put in difficulty by late recoveries of funds managed by the Regional Community and the Rectorate, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR) intervened with the Regional Council and the Academy of La Réunion to reimburse the University of La Réunion to the tune of 10,27 million euros.

Since November 2021, the University of Reunion has continued to alert the regional community as well as the Academy of Reunion about its cash flow difficulties due to late repayments of FEDER funds and recovery plan credits. and the convergence and transformation contract by the two institutions.

The establishment, which had a comfortable cash flow, made numerous advances of funds, both for structuring research projects for the territory (from FEDER funds) and for university infrastructures (credits from the recovery plan and the contract convergence and transformation) to develop campuses.

Unfortunately, the delay in repaying these advances - which are the subject of several agreements signed between the parties - has placed the University of Reunion in a delicate financial situation as the end of the year approaches. .

The involvement of the establishment and the mobilization of the presidential team enabled the release of 10,27 million euros to enable the closure to be approached more calmly.
of the 2022 budget.

Obtaining the sums due is the result of a strong mobilization of the establishment which alerted the Region and the Academy on numerous occasions and which recently adopted a motion in the Board of Directors to ask the financiers to acceleration of recovery of incurred and eligible expenses.

The University of La Réunion welcomes the intervention of the MESR and welcomes the release of these funds. She hopes for rapid payment in order to be able to honor the remuneration of the
agents in December and the payment of more than 3 million euros to
numerous suppliers (more than 500).

The establishment also very favorably welcomes the mission of the general inspection of the ministry whose support should make it possible to secure the entire process of management of these highly technical funds and which involves the Regional Council, the State services and the University.

The University of Reunion Island will finally be very vigilant over the 2023 financial year so that future sums to be recovered are within timeframes compatible with good project management by all parties.
