International students on top of the world

A look back at the ascent of Piton des Neiges by international students from the Tampon Campus

Students in the Erasmus+ exchange program and the Excellence Horizon program at the Tampon Campus had the opportunity to discover the highest peak of Reunion Island during a hike organized by the very sporty deputy director of International Relations of the UFR SHE .

Having left the Campus at 5 a.m., the students and their guide were at the foot of the “Le Bloc” trail at 7 a.m. Not surprisingly, the climb is very easy for students enrolled in STAPS, but a little more difficult for others. The prize for the most deserving student was awarded to Dawit who, at the summit, wore the colors of his country, Ethiopia.

After an hour at the top enjoying the view, the group returned down the same path. By 17:30 p.m., everyone was back on the bus. The expedition represented a real sporting challenge with great pride in having gone to the end.
The group showed solidarity in the effort and it was a great opportunity to bring together audiences who do not often have the opportunity to meet between classes. This was also one of the objectives of this action set up as part of a call for projects from the International Relations Department aimed at improving the reception of international students.
