European Heritage Days: In the footsteps of Thérésien Cadet
At the university science library, visitors were able to discover a rich exhibition paying tribute to the work of Thérésien Cadet.
Disappeared 30 years ago, this discreet man from Tévelave, was a scientist and a man in the field, a visionary, aware of the necessity and urgency to preserve a natural heritage, rich and fragile.
Outside, it was a guided tour of the arboretum which Thérésien Cadet was the initiator of which was proposed to you. This arboretum brings together numerous species of endemic and native flora of Reunion Island. As our island is part of a biodiversity hotspot, with a high rate of endemism, many plant species are currently in danger. This arboretum allows both the preservation of rare species of Reunion’s floral heritage and the ability to make it accessible to the uninformed public.
Free guided tours carried out by staff and students of “Fac des Sciences en Transition!” and the association “In the footsteps of Thérésien Cadet”.
