Presentation, objective(s):

The objective of the FLOR research program was to offer new scents for perfumery and cosmetic purposes. To achieve this objective, 3 steps were prioritized:

  1. The selection of original species in the flora of Reunion.
  2. Optimizing the trapping of odorous molecules from flowers and fruits to obtain floral waters, concretes, absolutes and essential oils. These high added value products are intended for growing markets with strong opportunities.
  3. The valorization of flower residues by obtaining scented floral waxes for applications in cosmetics, room fragrances, scented candles and other relaxation products in perfect harmony with the new trends in modern perfumery.

This program covered several disciplines: botany, chemistry (extraction and analysis of natural products), perfumery and cosmetics.
