For the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the scheme KAP Success The project was presented to the public on Tuesday, August 18th by the Réunion Region. The president of the University of Réunion participated in the presentation alongside the regional president and the project's partners.

Following an initial pilot phase conducted in eight high schools on the island, KAP Réussite is entering a new stage of its rollout this year. The program is now available to all participating public high schools in Réunion.

Student mentors to high school students

Led by the Réunion Region in partnership with the Academy of Réunion, the University of Réunion, the Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Forestry and the Family Allowance Fund, KAP Réussite aims to strengthen support for high school students experiencing difficulties in their learning.

The University contributes directly to its implementation through the mobilization of student mentors, who offer high school students close support to help them consolidate their learning, acquire a working method, prepare for their exams and build their career plan.

Each student mentor works with a group of up to eight high school students, fostering a close relationship, attentive listening, and personalized support. Depending on the identified needs, the workshops may also cover personal organization, self-confidence, or stress management.

Piloted in eight high schools across the country, KAP Réussite has already enabled 290 high school students will be mentored by 34 student mentors..
Among the high school students interviewed, 91% recommend the device, 92% reported having a better understanding of the subjects covered. et 90% praised the quality of listening offered by the mentors..
These initial results demonstrate strong support for the scheme, with 100% of the establishments involved in this first phase wishing to continue the experiment.

Student involvement provides a professionalizing experience: pmore than nine out of ten mentors declare that they have developed skills useful for their professional future and 70% are considering a career in teaching.

Through its participation in KAP Réussite, the University of Reunion Island contributes to strengthening the links between high school and higher education and to supporting the success of young people from Reunion Island.
