Reopening of the University of La Réunion Monday January 22, 2024

Message from the First Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors

Dear colleagues,

As agreed, I will come back to you for an update on the situation after the passage of cyclone BELAL.

I am pleased to inform you of the reopening of our university sites and campuses from this Monday, January 22, 2024 at 5 a.m., with the exception of the Maïdo observatory where power supply difficulties persist. We are working hard to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

I would first like to express my deep gratitude to our teams mobilized on the ground as soon as the red alert was lifted. I am particularly proud to highlight the remarkable work accomplished in the face of the significant material damage suffered on all of our sites.

From the speed of diagnosis to the rehabilitation of infrastructure, you have demonstrated extraordinary determination to enable our university to return to normal operation within an exceptionally short time frame and despite a severely degraded context.

It is thanks to your dedication that we can now resume normal activity.

This Monday, January 22 will therefore be the official return date for the entire community. I would like to reiterate to you today my best wishes for this new year.

May 2024 be synonymous with academic success, enriching discoveries and personal success. The attached greeting card, featuring a proud flamboyant, is a symbol of our collective resilience in the face of events of this magnitude.

To all the staff, I wish an excellent start to the school year.

Together, we will continue to make our university a place of excellence and inspiration.

Sincerely,
