The ethics college of the University of Reunion, created in May 2025, met for the second time on September 8, 2025.

This entirely independent body, which exercises the functions of ethics officer in accordance with a legal obligation provided for by the law of April 20, 2016, is composed of six members. These are, on the one hand, four teacher-researchers belonging to the University of La Réunion proposed by the heads of each of the components: Brigitte Grondin-Perez (Science and Technology), vice-president of the ethics college; Gwenaël Murphy (Human and Environmental Sciences); Pierre-Antoine Peyron (Health); and Cathy Pomart (Law and Economics).

Furthermore, the college also includes two external figures: Jean-Marc Bédier, Honorary Prefect; and Ferdinand Mélin-Soucramanien, professor at the University of Bordeaux, president of the ethics college. The functions of members of the college do not give rise to any remuneration or compensation.

The college's role is to issue opinions and recommendations to the President of the University of Réunion on matters relating to ethics and professional conduct, based on applicable laws and regulations as well as the University of Réunion's code of ethics. The college's functions
are above all advisory and conflict of interest prevention functions in support of the entire establishment and its staff.

However, where appropriate, the ethics board may be required to make reports to the Court of Auditors or the regional audit chamber, when the cases it deals with have financial implications, or to recommend to the President of the University to refer the matter to the Public Prosecutor pursuant to Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure when the cases referred to it are likely to be criminal in nature.

The ethics board can be contacted by sending an email to the following address:
