On Monday, April 13, 2026, the University of Reunion Island took a major step forward in disseminating scientific culture. In partnership with the Academy of Reunion Island, the institution officially inaugurated the House for Science, a new center of excellence dedicated to supporting teachers and inspiring future scientists.

The inauguration, held at the Théâtre Canter, marks Réunion's entry into a prestigious national network. Supported by the La main à la pâte foundation, the Maison pour la Science (House for Science) benefits from the high patronage of the Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Technologies. This framework guarantees high scientific standards and promotes the sharing of educational expertise on a national scale.

Located in the heart of Réunion Island, the Maison pour la Science (House for Science) aims to strengthen the links between research, education, and society. It will offer primary and secondary school teachers training opportunities, educational resources, and innovative programs that promote science teaching based on experimentation and inquiry-based learning.

Through this initiative, the University of Reunion Island reaffirms its commitment to disseminating knowledge and fostering scientific vocations, particularly among younger generations. In a context marked by major environmental, climate, and technological challenges, promoting scientific culture is essential for understanding the world and building the solutions of tomorrow.

The House for Science aims to be an open, collaborative and dynamic place, serving the educational community and all citizens.
