Phasing of recovery after BELAL passage

Message from the First Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors

Dear colleagues,

First of all, I hope this email finds you in good health. BELAL's passage through our territory was significant but the worst-case scenario was fortunately avoided. However, I invite you to exercise the greatest caution, particularly when traveling, during this safeguarding phase established by Mr. Prefect.

Despite the preparation carried out by our services aimed at securing the premises and assets of our university before its closure, the establishment – like other infrastructures in the region, recorded very significant damage: trees uprooted, flooded premises, damaged roofs. or even collapsed false ceilings. Diagnostics are still underway for all sites and campuses but according to initial findings, ESIROI has been particularly affected.

Once this diagnostic phase is finalized, we will quickly organize a phasing to put our installations back into service and allow a return to normal as soon as possible. We are moving towards a global resumption on site (students and all staff) on Monday January 22, I will confirm this to you by the end of the week.

In the meantime, all educational activities remain suspended (lectures, tutorials, practical work, tests and exams).

As of this Wednesday morning, a resumption is authorized for the following departments: DLR, DTPI, DSM and DSI which will endeavor to restore our installations and infrastructures to condition.

As an exception, I am also authorizing on-site access from this Wednesday for the following personnel: members of the presidential team, DGS, DFC, HR Directors, Directors of components and laboratories. This access must be carried out only if it is essential, while respecting the security conditions and the vigilance expected in such circumstances.

Pending a return to face-to-face work for staff, hierarchical superiors of all departments and departments of our establishment can ask their agents to switch to teleworking, in accordance with prefectural recommendations and to the extent that this is possible for employees. agents, taking into account the degraded context.

A new situation update will be carried out at the end of the week to decide on the finalized resumption date, depending on the progress of the operations to restore service and secure the sites.

To all the agents mobilized for the restoration of our sites and campuses, I want to say, on behalf of the entire university community, a big thank you.

Once again, I invite you to maintain the greatest vigilance, the safeguard phase means that we are no longer under the threat of the cyclone but the roads are not all passable and the risk of landslides, falling blocks and movements terrain are still present, as long as all reconnaissance has not been carried out.

To everyone, I wish you good luck for the release of this cyclonic episode.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Sincerely,
