From March 17 to 20, 2025, the consortium meeting of the TRANGA project (Energy Transition and Audit in Madagascar) was held at the IST-T in Antananarivo.
This project, financed by the French Development Agency (AFD), aims to strengthen capacities in energy transition and energy efficiency in Madagascar, particularly through training, the acquisition of equipment and the rehabilitation of IST-T infrastructure.
This consortium meeting was a key step in the project, bringing together the main partners:
- The University of Southern Brittany (UBS), project leader,
- The University of Reunion, project partner
- The Higher Institute of Technology of Antananarivo (IST-T), direct beneficiary of the project.
Throughout the week, several working sessions took place:
- Meeting of the Gender Equality Working Group: in order to implement the Gender Equality policy, and more broadly an inclusive approach to recruitment, carry out awareness-raising and promotional activities in order to increase the participation of girls and women in technical training and scientific projects.
- Meeting of the administrative and financial unit: to make a mid-term assessment of budget execution and the use of credits, particularly after an increase in expenditure linked to mobility and equipment.
- Meetings of the educational and scientific coordination unit to continue working on the training offer at the bachelor's-master's-doctorate level
- Consortium meeting: an overall assessment of the project's progress and challenges.
- Steering committee: making strategic decisions for the continuation of the project.
- Improvement Council: discussions on the development of training and its suitability to the needs of the Malagasy energy sector.
Participants also visited the IST-T to see the rehabilitation work carried out through the project, including the improvement of infrastructure and the installation of new equipment.
On Thursday, March 20, the week concluded with the official inauguration of the TRANGA project, in the presence of major figures:
- A representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research of Madagascar,
- The French Embassy in Madagascar,
- The French Development Agency (AFD), the main funder of the project.
This consortium meeting was therefore a crucial step in ensuring the smooth running of the project, strengthening collaboration between partners and preparing the next phases of TRANGA for a lasting impact on energy transition training in Madagascar.
