From March 12 to 21, students from the University of Reunion Island enrolled in Foreign Languages, Literatures and Civilizations (LLCER) or German as a Foreign Language (LVE) spent time in Germany for an enriching and exciting experience, in partnership with students from Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). This trip, subsidized by the Franco-German Youth Office (OFAJ), is part of a Franco-German tandem project focused on exchange, discovery, and shared reflection—and marks ten years of language tandem cooperation between the two universities.

At the heart of this encounter lies the concept of otherness. Through collaborative activities, discussions, and workshops, participants are invited to examine their relationship with the "other," to compare their perspectives, and to explore the diversity of cultural experiences. By combining their languages, backgrounds, and sensibilities, they collectively build a vibrant and dynamic space for intercultural dialogue, while developing valuable skills for navigating international contexts.

Beyond the individual experience, this project is part of a broader European perspective. It embodies the values ​​of cooperation, mobility, and mutual understanding that underpin European integration, while also giving concrete expression to Franco-German friendship. By fostering exchanges between students, it helps to cultivate globally minded citizens capable of engaging in dialogue across linguistic and cultural boundaries.

This project fully illustrates the University of Reunion's commitment to the internationalization of academic programs and the development of intercultural skills. It offers students a valuable learning opportunity, both linguistically and personally, by strengthening their openness, adaptability, and ability to thrive in diverse environments.
