Opening of the first professional “social intervention” degree at the University of Reunion Island

This Wednesday, November 15, 11 students entered the brand new professional degree at the University of La Réunion “social intervention”. This training offers for the first time the possibility of becoming a holder at the national level, giving the winners the title of disability referent. This training therefore helps to make the function of disability representative a profession.

Supported in its approach by the Fund for the Integration of Disabled Persons into the Public Service (FIPHFP) and the National Association for the Management of the Fund for the Professional Integration of Disabled Persons (AGEFIPH), the University of Reunion is opening this year a new professional license training “Social intervention”, “Supporting people with disabilities” course.

This is intended to enable learners to perfect and/or acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the new profession of disability advisor, a profession in development.

At the end of the License, the national diploma will allow the winners to work in both public and private structures. Indeed, the implementation of disability policies is booming in the public and private sectors and requires professionalization of its actors. For example, all apprentice training centers are required to have a disability advisor. The same applies to private companies with more than 250 employees and public establishments. The disability referent is an internal resource whose action promotes the search for solutions to situations of vulnerability.

This training aims to develop an inclusive society through better consideration of health, the development of universal accessibility, support for professional integration and the continued employment of people with disabilities.

This training will be provided both at the Moufia Campus, at the University Technology Park and remotely by teacher-researchers (human and social sciences and law), by the digital accessibility referent of the University of Reunion as well as by professionals from public, private, associative and training sectors.

It is still possible to register within this license (subject to a work-study contract).
