The PEPR BRIDGES

Dr Joachim CLAUDET (research director, CNRS), Dr. Frédéric MENARD (research director, IRD) and Dr Wilfried Sanchez (research director, IFREMER) therefore presented to the university community the broad outlines of the PEPR BRIDGES.

Linking conservation, development and cooperation objectives to increase resilience
climate change, food insecurity and emerging conflicts…

The BRIDGES project aims to strengthen regional multilateral dialogue with a systemic and innovative vision of commons management. The networking of socio-ecological systems, in particular through marine protected areas and sustainable management of marine resources, will increase the cooperation and resilience of neighboring and interconnected territories.

This program will promote the establishment of sustainable decision support structures based on open science and aiming for carbon neutrality.

Bridges aims to shift the paradigm for the governance of the commons to reduce environmental vulnerability and conflict risks in coastal areas.

It will be based on an innovative approach based on the networking of socio-ecosystems and on interdisciplinary, multi-sectoral and equitable regional collaborations making it possible to increase knowledge, anticipation, common management, preservation and, in fact, the resilience of French and neighboring territories to future environmental and socio-economic changes.
