HORIZON EUROPE Funding
Total project budget: €2494375
Presentation, objective(s):
The overall objective of REALISTIC is to develop a center of excellence in the field of aerosol remote sensing technology and science.
in the Indian Ocean, thanks to the creation of a chair in Reunion Island, an outermost region of Europe, as a strategic hub of the European Research Area.
REALISTIC aims to attract and retain a high-level researcher (ERA Chair holder) to lead a high-level support team with excellent research and technical capabilities in the field of aerosol remote sensing.
In particular, specific applications and research efforts will be conducted in the area of quantifying the impact of forest fires and volcanic emissions on the composition of the tropical atmosphere and on the Earth-Global radiative balance.
Atmosphere.
REALISTIC is designed to catalyze and maximize the impact of the ERA Chair in order to enhance research, technology and innovation excellence at the Laboratory of Atmosphere and Cyclones (LACy), the Reunion Island Atmospheric Physics Observatory (OPAR), the Reunion Island Universe Sciences Observatory (OSU-R) and the University of Reunion Island (UR) to a level that makes them unique and indispensable references in the local R&I ecosystem, both at the Indian Ocean level and at the international community level as a whole, thus filling the R&I deficit on atmospheric systems.
REALISTIC will contribute to better integrating the UR into the European Research Area and to better aligning it with European standards and priorities.
