Testimonials from mobility from the REUNION program – May 2022

As part of the REUNION program, staff from the University of Reunion and partner universities were able to benefit from mobility

Outgoing teaching mobility – University of Mauritius (Mauritius)

As part of the REUNION program, Mr. BOKHOREE Sanjeev from the University of Technology of Mauritius carried out an eco-campus training mission to the University of Reunion in May 2022.

“This mobility was also an opportunity to make new friends and peers at the University of La Reunion, among the Rotarians of La Reunion Island and the local population. Many thanks to Olivier, Bruno, Garry, Mylène and other key colleagues who supported and guided me during my visit. »

Sanjeev BOKHOREE, University of Technology of Mauritius

The objective of this mobility was to learn more about the methods and practices of the UR in terms of eco-campus but also to set up a partnership agreement between the UR and the University of Mauritius. The visit also provided an opportunity to meet academic staff and other stakeholders to enhance collaborative relationships between our two institutions in various areas, including eco-campus initiatives, sustainability and sustainable practices. The visit also focused on work, on collaborative actions that would be incorporated into a joint agreement between the two institutions.

During his stay, Mr. Bokhoree Sanjeev participated in different activities such as working sessions with faculty members to define potential areas of collaboration, preparation of a joint agreement for collaboration between the two institutions.

This mobility also allowed him to establish fruitful working relationships with members of the teaching staff of the University of Réunion.
The results of producing mutual collaborations on various academic aspects, including joint research, exchange of students and staff, co-supervision of research students, among others, but also enriching site visits that have opened avenues for reproducing existing installations such as ESIROI.

We can say without pretension that the objective has been achieved and that a framework agreement is currently being prepared.

Outgoing teaching mobility – Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique)

As part of the REUNION program, Ms. Frédérique REYNES from UR carried out a teaching mission at Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique.

“This very enriching experience motivated me to continue my experience as a FLE teacher. International cooperation interests me greatly and I hope to be able to participate in new cooperation projects and begin research in this area.

Frédérique REYNES, FLE teacher, Maison des Langues of the University of Reunion

The objectives of its mission were to offer quality training in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and language teaching by a native trainer to Mozambican students, future French teachers, thus promoting university diplomacy. Exchanges of good practices between French teachers from each university is a pillar. This exchange is part of an ambition for broader partnerships in the future. This mobility made it possible to meet different stakeholders to analyze needs for future projects with Mozambique. We want the University of Réunion to be a reflex partner internationally and in Mozambique, the only Portuguese-speaking country in the area. The initially planned objectives were also the registration of Mozambican students for the Master's degree at the University of Reunion and the arrival of Mozambican teachers at the Maison des Langues following this first mobility.

During her mobility, Ms. Reynès provided didactic courses to 32 students in the 3rd year of the teaching option and FLE (French as a Foreign Language) courses to 33 1st year students, 34 2nd year students and 15 4th year students.

This mobility allowed him to better consolidate his knowledge on the teaching contexts of FLE in East African countries (which have few material resources and large groups) and to continue reflection on the adaptation of actional approaches in these contexts with teachers from Mozambique. This stay was very enriching, she took the opportunity to participate in conferences and meet different partners and researchers, which made her want to resume research and possibly think about a doctoral project on plurilingualism, interculturality, and semiotics.

This mobility was a first, very fruitful exchange with the Eduardo Mondlane University. She was able to meet the director of the Faculty of Letters, Doctor Samuel Antonio Quive, as well as the head of the French section, Professor Yassin Chicombe. She also met teachers from the French section. Having received very positive feedback from the team and students, this makes him want to deepen this collaboration.

Outgoing training mobility – University of Seychelles

As part of the REUNION program, Ms. Anna BESSARD carried out a training mission at the University of Seychelles in Seychelles.

“The fact of having physically met the teachers, the students but also all the UniSey staff (in particular the staff responsible for international exchanges) made it possible to have a real exchange with them and therefore to build a professional relationship that will be lasting. »

Anna BESSARD, Teacher of English – University of Reunion

The objectives of his mobility were to meet language teachers (and other subjects) and discuss their teaching methods with them, to attend classes in order to analyze the similarities and differences of teaching, to exchange with students , develop international cooperation between the University of Réunion and the University of Seychelles.

Its main activities were based on exchanges with professors and students from UniSey (Anse royale and Mont Fleuri campuses), the SBSA (Seychelles Business Studies Academy) and the Anse Royale secondary school. Observation of course sessions at the UniSey, SBSA and the secondary school and the visit to the schools.

The various meetings and exchanges with teachers with many years of teaching experience (between 10 and more than 40 years of experience), passionate about sharing knowledge, contacting students and seeing them improve and achieving their goals was one of the benefits of this mobility.
The discovery of other teaching methods: “student centered” i.e. teaching centered on students with projects, research, fewer exams and more continuous projects has made it possible to broaden these benefits. Sharing educational knowledge: summary of previous courses, group work to keep learners active during the course, summary of the course at the end of the course, daily use of English with teachers and students, collaboration with the UniSey professors who will also be able to come to the University of Reunion on mission, have been more than beneficial.

This mobility gave rise to the possibility of setting up a double degree in collaboration with the University of La Réunion but also to the establishment of a system for exchanging educational resources between professors from UniSey and Reunion in order to compensate for the lack of resources that teachers may encounter in Seychelles.

Incoming training mobility – Higher Institute of Technology of Antananarivo (Madagascar)

As part of the REUNION program, Mr. Nicolas RAMAMBAZAFY from the Higher Institute of Technology of Antananarivo carried out a training mobility at the University of Reunion.

“This mobility inspired me personally to complete the writing phase of my Accreditation to Direct Research which should be finalized in a few months”

Nicolas RAMAMBAZAFY, IST-T Madagascar

The objectives of his mobility were to follow high-level training through research in management sciences and management provided by the IAE of Reunion. This training at DU MSG aims to raise awareness among researchers and managerial practitioners of recent qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodologies used in empirical studies in Management Sciences. My professional objective was to specifically develop innovative methodologies applied to Marketing and Human Resources Management. I also planned to attend lessons related to the epistemology of Management Sciences.
The final objective was to be able to train students and certain colleagues from my home institute, IST-T.

During his stay, Mr. Ramambazafy attended the lessons given by the DU MSG of the IAE. Thus, he attended the sessions concerning the “Marketing Research” module. He was also able to observe the progress of an entrance test session at the IAE. This test is called the SIM test (IAE Message Score).

The training provided by the DU MSG was very useful. Indeed, Mr. Ramambazafy was able to update his knowledge in innovative methodologies in Management Sciences Research and more particularly in Marketing and Information Systems. The number of hours being very short during his stay, it is certain that these lessons will require further development on his part upon his return to IST-T. Nevertheless, the references were transmitted and will serve as a basis for the future and the contacts were created.

Beyond the professional contributions, this stay was beneficial to him personally for several reasons. The welcome given to him was of high quality and he would like to thank in particular the head of international relations Ms. Fuhrer-Cucchi as well as the director of the CEMOI laboratory Mr. Cucchi.

The collaboration between the IST-T and the UR has enabled it to be strengthened in several areas. For teaching, teacher exchanges are planned between the two universities. The upcoming arrival of two of them is being finalized. With regard to research, co-authored writing will be developed by taking advantage of exchanges with different research colleagues from the CEMOI laboratory but also by exploiting the publication strategies that were taught during this mobility.

This mobility gave birth to other projects such as the creation of their own research laboratory. The feasibility of such an arrangement could be done in collaboration with the members of the CEMOI. Likewise, this partnership could support the creation of a doctoral school within the IST-T

Outgoing teaching mobility – University of Antananarivo (Madagascar)

As part of the REUNION program, Mr. Tahiry RAZAFINDRALAMBO carried out a teaching mobility at the University of Antananarivo in Madagascar.

“Contact with a different audience is beneficial because it allows you to rethink teaching methods. This modification in teaching methods can only be beneficial in the long term because they make it possible to better adapt to the levels, needs and expectations of students. »

Tahiry RAZAFINDRALAMBO, teacher in Computer Science and Telecommunications, ESIROI

This mobility aimed to give cybersecurity courses to Master 1 students at the University of Antananarivo and more particularly in the Master of Computer Science and Applied Statistics (MISA). Its second objective was to establish a partnership with the University of Antananarivo and the University of Reunion.

This mobility gave rise to the creation of a double diploma with the University of Anatananarivo, which would be a good opportunity for the regional influence of the UR and more particularly of the ESIROI which has an important role to play in bringing advanced engineering training in Madagascar.

The lessons provided were a success despite the degraded conditions. the students are motivated and have a good level. Unfortunately, during his stay the majority union which is made up of teacher-researchers, researchers and teachers from the University of Antananarivo were on strike, Mr. Razafindralambo was not able to interact with colleagues.
