Social responsibility, a transition at the heart of the success of the University of La Réunion

For 40 years, the University of Reunion, and particularly its staff, whether teachers, teacher-researchers, researchers or administrators, have undergone multiple developments.

A pioneer in the territory in terms of quality of life within the establishment, with the implementation of teleworking, the establishment is committed to social responsibility to contribute to a better quality of life, placing people at the heart of the university, building a shared future.

The 40th anniversary of the University of Reunion was therefore an opportunity to formalize a commitment to the development and implementation of a multi-year master plan for social responsibility and quality of life within the establishment, by signing a framework agreement with the National Federation of Social Action Council (FNCAS).

Through this signature, the university wishes to position itself in the “Social Responsibility” dynamic, by being supported by the FNCAS, a national organization specializing in the theme for Higher Education and Research establishments.

The challenge is resolutely to integrate societal concerns into all the missions of the University of Reunion, in order to respond to France's roadmap for the 2030 agenda, stipulating the taking into account of the objectives of sustainable development, i.e. 3 fundamental pillars: social involvement, respect for the environment and economic performance, which must guide the action of public establishments.

Creation of an EST university campus

In view of the strategic project of the establishment, and the mandate projects of the Municipality of Saint-André and the Réunion Region, the three institutions mobilized today to formalize the establishment of the EST campus on the site of the colossus of the town of Saint-André.

A true historic moment in the history of the University of Reunion, this new local campus will contribute to the territorial rebalancing desired by the Region in this micro-region.

The University of Reunion Island wishes to support this approach which contributes to the development of the EST basin, in accordance with the establishment contract signed with the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in November 2021.
