Indian Oceanic University Press (PUI)
Presentation
The Indian Oceanic University Presses (PUI) were born in 2017 to meet the demand of researchers, young or experienced, from the Indian Ocean area, as well as national and international researchers interested in this area.
On the one hand, the University of Reunion wants to make the work it produces and promotes more visible and more accessible, but whose international dissemination is not always well assured. On the other hand, it wants to play its role as the only French University in the southern hemisphere by proposing to bring together, within the PUI, national and international research activity, whatever the scientific fields concerned. , whatever the languages used, which places the Indian Ocean at its center.
Objectives
As part of the University of Reunion's policy of excellence, the objective of the PUI is to unite research, stimulate cross-disciplinary projects, and generate new partnerships as well as new areas of research. Its scientific publications are essentially digital (epub and pdf format) but the PUI does not give up the advantages of the traditional book, which can be published on demand.
In addition to books, the PUI also publish periodicals, including journals Works & Documents and TrOPICS et Indian Ocean Research Notebooks, the latter two accessible only online.
The PUIs also provide a heritage function through the digitization and free provision, online, of rare works, works or memories, difficult to access outside the Indian Ocean, and which have fallen into the public domain. Their objective is thus to be a reference site to provide worldwide and free access to rare sources which can again give rise to new research projects.
Backed by the UFR Letters and Human Sciences, the PUIs are set to become a common service of the University. They collaborate with numerous University services and in particular the common documentation service.
The choice of an independent editorial policy meeting scientific requirements and rigor is guaranteed by an editorial committee, made up of members of the University of Reunion and French and international universities. Each work submitted is appraised and evaluated by a reading committee as well as by the directors of works. The final publication decision and publication planning are established by the editorial board.
