Description of the WEU
France invented cinematography at the end of the 19th century in a thriller worthy of a thriller. Very quickly, if not instantly, its aesthetic and artistic side took hold. French cinema remains to this day the most important after American cinema, in terms of influence. Its extraordinary creativity, its unparalleled poetics influence the entire world. The French cinematic language will go from revolution to revolution until the New Wave, thus following the history of art and the evolution of literature. This first session offers ten major works of French cinema or their rebounds in the world, between the exit of the Lumière factory and the films of Carné-Prévert.
