Description of the WEU
In France, the history of manga publishing began in 1978 with the magazine Le cri qui tue, which was not a popular success. The same year, the Récré A2 program broadcast Goldorak, an anime adapted from a manga by Go Nagai that was a resounding success. These two situations show that before encountering manga, the French public first encountered anime. In Japan, it was the popularity of manga that would subsequently lead to the production of anime adapted from manga.
It is this story that we will try to understand.
