Description of the WEU
The objective of this UE is to study the thought of Confucius and his disciples. Its ambition is to show its relevance. Confucius' thought is presented in its historical context. The emphasis is then placed on ethics and politics. A reflection can thus be initiated on what makes us human, elevates us, gives meaning to our existence. In antiquity, the debates were particularly lively on human nature, education and the conduct of life. Controversies arose. Learning about them also allows us to fuel our reflection. The concepts of rite and filial piety, which are strange to us, but also of "non-action", of "transformation", have become the key notions of Chinese philosophy. What can they bring us?
