Description of the WEU

The UEO "Knowing how to be in a company" is intended for students with an internship to complete during the 2024-25 academic year. The objective is to support them in their search for an internship and/or job and to develop a professional attitude through: understanding the environment and the organization, preparing a CV, a cover letter, a motivational interview as well as building a short and medium-term professional project.

The module presents the following points:

1- Understand the environment and organization of a company: Situate the company in its economic environment / Understand the different points which allow companies to be compared and distinguished / Define the notions of VSE, SME, start-up, micro enterprise, Group and Holding, the sector of activity, market shares, etc. / Understand the decision-making processes in the different types of organizations through organizational charts / Know how to differentiate support and operational functions...

2- Prepare a CV: What do we expect from a CV? Its interest, the important parts, the order of these parts and the layout / Reflection on transfers of private/pro skills. What professional skills? How to build on skills acquired in the personal domain? / Analyze the student's initial CV / Make the necessary modifications.

3- Prepare a cover letter (CL): Present the parts and points essential to writing a CL / Errors to avoid and points to watch out for: spelling mistakes, number of pages, etc. / Personalize the CL and adapt it to the target company.

4- Prepare for the job interview

Prepare for all the usual interview questions: Introduce yourself! / What are your qualities and faults? / Why you and not someone else? / Posture, verbal and non-verbal language…/ How to close an interview in a positive way?

5- Understand the basics of communication: Explain, through a diagram, the basics of communication / Raise awareness about communication and its impacts on the integration and quality of relationships within the company.

6- Succeed in the assigned missions: Suggest a proactive approach in the event that the manager lacks availability: Suggest that the manager or tutor set up meetings to carry out regular reviews / Evaluate together the progress and quality of the work requested / Implement an action plan to achieve the set objectives / Identify achievement-objective gaps / Implement a corrective action program.

7- Establish a professional and personal assessment: Analyze the professional experience / List the hard skills and soft skills used to succeed in your mission / Identify areas for progress.
