Description of the WEU

This UEO is for all students who are having difficulty swimming and are unable to swim 50m without using support. Students who already know how to swim 50m will be redirected to another UEO.
This will involve putting the most timid students at ease and reassuring them in order to acquire the certificate of knowing how to swim safely and allow them to do 100m on their front without taking any support.

Safe swimming skills refer to mastery of the aquatic environment. It recognizes a young person's ability to swim safely in a bathing establishment or supervised area (swimming pool, water park, calm body of water with a gentle slope). It must be distinguished from the actual swimming activities set out in teaching programs.

It is defined as follows: - route to be carried out continuously, without taking support at the edge of the pool and without glasses:
– from the edge of the pool, enter the water in a backward fall;
– move a distance of 3 m towards an obstacle;
– cross the obstacle completely submerged over a distance of 1 m;
– move on your stomach for a distance of 20 meters; during this movement, at the sound signal, hover vertically for 15 seconds then resume moving to complete the distance;
– turn around without regaining support and move from a ventral position to a dorsal position;
– move on your back over a distance of 20 meters;
– during this movement, at the sound signal, hover in a horizontal dorsal position for 15 seconds, then resume movement to complete the distance;
– turn over onto your stomach to cross the obstacle again while fully submerged;
– move on your stomach to return to the starting point;
– anchor securely to a fixed and stable element.
– knowledge and attitudes:
– know how to identify the person responsible for monitoring to alert in the event of a problem;
– know the basic rules relating to hygiene and safety in a bathing establishment or supervised area;
– know how to identify the environments and circumstances for which mastery of swimming skills is suitable.
