Accessibility and handicap

All audiences are welcome in the libraries of the University of La Réunion.

In order to better welcome you, all university library staff ensure the accessibility of the premises as well as that of the collections and services.

Accessibility of our spaces

All our libraries are accessible to people with reduced mobility : access ramp, elevators, adapted toilets, etc.

Access to the university premises is authorized for guide or assistance dogs, the holder of which has the national certificate provided for by article D.245-24-4 of the Social Action and Families Code.

Registration is free for people with disabilities who are not members of the university community.

Personalized support and on-site services

You are entitled to a service for lending documents and materials:
• your loans can be adjusted (longer duration)
• your loan requests have priority (books and laptops),
• you can have your loans recovered by a person of your choice (agent).

You are entitled to personalized support for:
• reserve a personal work space for your companion and yourself,
• help you find the documentation you need for university work,
• train you in the use of the equipment provided, in documentary research, in the use of electronic resources, etc.

Disability exception Plato, Digital Works Transfer Platform:

Plato

Plato is a service aimed at improving access to reading for people with disabilities, thanks to the collaboration of publishers, the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) and the library of the University of Reunion: https://exceptionhandicap.bnf.fr/Connexion

What?

French books and periodicals published less than 10 years ago, whether published on paper or digital media.

How?

Simply present yourself at the library reception with your disability certificate or send us a message via Info-BU specifying the title, author and year of publication of the document whose file you wish to obtain.

The library will query the Plato database. If your work is not yet there, the BnF will request it from the publisher who will provide it within 45 days.

After signing the Plato usage charter, the digital work will be sent to you on a protected USB key.

Audio Books

Eole Library

Eole is a library of books adapted for people for whom reading is difficult due to their disability. Registration is free but certain administrative documents must be provided to validate it (procedure explained on eole.avh.asso.fr/inscription-eole).

BNFA (Accessible French-speaking Digital Library)

La Accessible French-speaking Digital Library Since 2012, it has offered access to more than 40 digital books available in audio and/or text versions, in DAISY or PDF formats.

To benefit from it, you must register (www.bnfa.fr/s-register) and send a document proving a disability situation.
