The “Yo, sí puedo” literacy method:

One of Cuba's great successes in education and international cooperation is the “Yo, sí puedo” literacy program.

Created in 2001 within the Latin American and Caribbean Pedagogical Institute (IPLAC) of the Cuban Ministry of Education, with the objective of providing a response to this problem on the continent and throughout the world, this method has has been successfully applied in thirty countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Western Europe and has made it possible to make more than 10 million adults literate in nine languages. Since 2023, a delegation of two Cuban specialists has been in Reunion as part of a cooperation agreement with the municipality of Saint-Paul to evaluate the possibilities of its application on the island.
