Training summary
The areas of intervention of the Master's degree in civil engineering are vast, ranging from building energy, to structural calculation, to environmental management.
In this context, the Building and Environmental Sciences department is strengthening the structure of the Master in Civil Engineering in order to respond to the demands of the professional world, mainly within the framework of design office type structures.
The mission of the Master's degree in Civil Engineering is to welcome and upgrade, if necessary, students from a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a civil engineering and energy course, or other scientific training at a Bachelor's level, and to lead them through semi-professional training. , semi-theoretical, and internships, to integrate their future professional fields.
The Master's degree can also remain a springboard into the field of research, in particular by directing a third of the training towards preparation subjects for the field of research and dedicated projects. The support of the Master's degree to the PIMENT laboratory thus makes it possible to consolidate this orientation. Collaborations with international laboratories are also possible.
Training aims
This training at the interface between applied and fundamental sciences will be particularly suitable for students with a deep appetite for managerial professions in the field of construction as well as for scientific research.
Advantages of the training
Field studies will be favored for the specialty courses taught in Master 2.
Particular attention is paid to the acquisition of transversal skills essential today in the private/public sector such as mastery of English, oral communication, public speaking. Thanks to compulsory internship periods over a total duration of eight months in a company or in a research laboratory, students will learn to mobilize and put into practice all the skills acquired during their university studies.
Targeted skills
- Identify digital uses and the impacts of their evolution on the area(s) concerned by the mention
- Use advanced digital tools independently for one or more professions or research sectors in the field
- Mobilize highly specialized knowledge, some of which is at the forefront of knowledge in a field of work or study, as the basis for original thinking
- Develop critical awareness of knowledge in a field and/or at the interface of several fields
- Solve problems to develop new knowledge and new procedures and integrate knowledge from different fields
- Make innovative contributions within the framework of high-level exchanges and in international contexts
- Conduct a reflective and distanced analysis taking into account the issues, problems and complexity of a request or situation in order to propose adapted and/or innovative solutions in compliance with regulatory developments
- Identify, select and critically analyze various specialized resources to document a subject and synthesize this data for use
- Communicate for training or knowledge transfer purposes, orally and in writing, in French and in at least one modern foreign language
- Manage complex, unpredictable professional or study contexts that require new strategic approaches
- Take responsibilities to contribute to professional knowledge and practices and/or to review the strategic performance of a team
- Lead a project (design, management, team coordination, implementation and management, evaluation, dissemination) that can mobilize multidisciplinary skills in a collaborative framework
- Analyze your actions in a professional situation, self-evaluate to improve your practice as part of a quality approach
- Respect the principles of ethics, professional conduct and environmental responsibility
