Training summary

This engineering level training aims to meet the demand of the territory, the Indian Ocean zone and beyond by training future executives capable of piloting and carrying out innovative IT projects.

Training aims

The essential objective of the Computer Science Master's degree is to train technical executives in the IT sector responding to the national and local socio-professional demand of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector.
The Master of Computer Science at the University of La Réunion offers a program that addresses mobile technologies, Web applications, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This Master trains technical executives, in collaboration with business and research circles. The professional aspect of the training remains close to the technological aspects. The research component essentially covers mobile computing and big data which are the themes of the LIM (Computer Science and Mathematics Laboratory) research unit which supports the training.
The Master of Computer Science also aims to develop students' ability to adapt. This skill is essential to be able to keep up with the constant and rapid evolution of the IT sector. A graduate of this Master's degree in Computer Science is therefore able to adapt throughout their professional career thanks to a solid foundation of knowledge and skills.
Passionate students, ready to commit their talent to technological innovation in line with today's world, are invited to apply.
With the Master of Computer Science, we train the innovators of tomorrow.

Advantages of the training

The Master of Computer Science is a unique public training at this level in Reunion and French in the Indian Ocean.

The training is provided by a teaching team composed mainly of published teacher-researchers recognized in their field of expertise. Thus, students benefit from teaching at the cutting edge of ICT and a first contact with innovation and research.

In order to best adapt to the professional project of each student, the Computer Science Master offers 3 courses:

  • The Computer Engineering course in initial training prepares both for professional integration and for further studies at a doctoral level.

  • The work-study computer engineering course aims to accelerate professional integration by offering work in a company alongside your studies.

  • The teaching career path, in conjunction with the INSPE, prepares for the CAPES "Digital and Computer Sciences" for those who wish to become a secondary school teacher.

The Master of Computer Science from the University of Réunion is also:

  • The availability of all teaching resources on an online educational platform

  • A high quality working environment. The training benefits from a dedicated classroom including projection equipment coupled with an interactive whiteboard. Students have at their disposal a study room with video projection. A relaxation room is also available for between classes.

  • Innovative teaching methods, the course is organized into seminars led by both academic and professional experts, collaborative workshops and applied research projects, promoting an immersive learning experience.

  • A privileged partnership with the Master of Sorbonne University (computer science specialty). At least one teacher from this establishment regularly comes to complete a module in this Master's degree. Master 1 students have the possibility of doing their Master 2 in the partner's Master.

  • A solid network of partner companies for internships, projects and recruitment in Reunion.

  • Target success rates of 85% in the first year and 90% in the second year.

  • Good integration of graduates into the local economic fabric. The majority of students find their jobs during their end-of-studies internship. Graduates have no difficulty being recruited locally.

Summary of lessons by course

Master 1
In addition to fundamental (algorithmics and security) and professional lessons (English, business, administration, systems), the first year of the Master is focused on the development of communicating mobile software and the relevant management of massive data. Projects, also called Study and Research Work (TER), are planned each semester to put the knowledge studied into practice.

Master 2
The first semester offers an opening to both the world of business and that of research, a mastery of project management concepts and tools. This semester allows you to deepen your knowledge from the first year on a professional level (business, project management, web services and cloud computing) and on the two IT themes of the LIM (Data, knowledge and decision-making and Communicating mobile computing) .

Intership

The projects and the end-of-study internship are compulsory and essential activities to prepare for professional integration or continuation of a thesis. Students who follow the Master in initial training will have to complete three projects (2 in Master 1, 1 in Master 2) and a final internship in Master 2.

The work-study students at the same time continue their work in the company which welcomes them.
